Responsible Cashmere

Female founded factory

Our Radvilaitė hooded scarf (or rather a hood with a scarf, if you prefer) was inspired by its namesake: Barbora Radvilaitė, Grand Duchess of Lithuania. The textile was created by manipulating knit and purl stitches to replicate the pearl texture of headpieces found in the early images of Radvilaitė herself.

  • SUSTAINABILITY

We don't believe in deadstock. All of our Radvilaitė pieces are produced in small batches at our female-lead, female-run factory in Lithuania, overseen by Mrs Zina.
For this piece we handpicked The Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA) certified Cashmere.
We used wool that's of Responsible Wool Standard (RWS,) with no microplastics and no harmful or irritant chemicals used.
The best part? You'll get a card with your order telling you exactly who knitted your garment and a little about them.

MADE AT MRS ZINA'S

For this knit we partnered up with a family-run knitwear factory in Šiauliai, a small town in Northern Lithuania. The owner of the factory is Mrs. Zina who founded the company over 30 years ago. Growing up she always dreamt of becoming an orchestra conductor, but running a factory as beautifully as she does might not be that far off. Today Mrs. Zina employs over 20 women from the local community who all refer to her as a mother figure. All her employees earn a living wage and are entitled to 4 weeks of annual paid leave, 24 months of paid maternity leave and paid sick leave.
